I was alone, afraid and in great pain
But you were there to greet me
With your cheerful smile
With your warm embrace
And the pain lifted
I was always the dark and brooding soul
And would inevitably sink back into my depths
But always your brightness and energetic ways
Would pull me back into the light
And bring a too rare smile to my face
A laugh to my throat
You have left again
On your endless journey of joy and happy delight
But I know you my eternal sister
I know that when I have again sunk too deeply into my brooding depths
You will once again cheerfully dance into my life
To bring back my smile
And hear my laugh
I will remember and love you forever
My eternal sister
Such a beautiful tribute to your sister, who sounds like a soul brimming with sunshine. How you must miss her. But I believe we carry those we love within and, even more so, that those whom we love and who love us, are never very far - the veil between our reality and theirs is likely thinner than we know. I trust her spirit will be close by, since she always eased your sad times with her smile. You capture her so beautifully in this poem. Thank you for reading and commenting on my blog......no accident I picked up that book or that you happened upon that quote. I detect your sister's hand in things:) And you are right. My wolf-dog is still here. I am grieving too soon and wasting the moments. You said just the right words to me today!
ReplyDeleteThank you, she very much was an endless ray of sunshine. Always so positive and upbeat and if anyone had a good reason to be dark and depressed it was her, but she never was. She is the one who cheerfully poked at me until I started to write seriously. I can truthfully say I'd have never written much of anything if not for her. I agree I don't think this was accidental.
ReplyDeleteI am very glad to have helped you in whatever way I could.
That is so full of emotion! Such love for your sister.. and so deep emotions! Having her in your life must have been a blessing for you. Thank you for visiting my blog and showing me the way to yours.
ReplyDeleteShe was a blessing and still is in spirit.
ReplyDeleteYou are very welcome and thank you for showing me your beautiful blog as well.
